With experience on Capitol Hill, K Street, and the campaign trail, Ryan J. Taylor, our founder and CEO, knows how Washington works. In the 20 years prior to starting 440 Strategies, Ryan was a senior leader at one of Washington's top 10 bipartisan public affairs firms, and served as a senior advisor and communications strategist to four U.S. Senators and a member of Congress.
Ryan's media relations and public affairs expertise is focused on crafting strategies and messages that resonate with policymakers, voters, and the press. His deep understanding of the political process has been instrumental time and again in advising numerous high-profile clients and coalitions navigate Washington.
On Capitol Hill, Ryan served as communications director from 2013-2018 for Mississippi's senior U.S. Senator Roger Wicker. He also served as a senior policy adviser to Wyoming's U.S. Senator John Barrasso on the Senate Republican Policy Committee. As Executive Director of the Wyoming Republican Party, he helped the party win its biggest election in 90 years.
Ryan is regularly featured on Fox News Channel, and other media platforms like Bloomberg, POLITICO, and McClatchy. He graduated from the University of Wyoming. He and his wife, Bevin, live in Alexandria, Va., with their two children, James and Charlotte.
Jennifer Johnson began her career in politics by working for her home-state Senator, United States Senate Whip Al Simpson of Wyoming. She gained experience working in U.S. Senate leadership before moving to the U.S. House of Representatives, where she served Representative Joel Hefley of Colorado, a senior Member of the Natural Resources Committee. Her western roots and work on Capitol Hill steered her to focus on issues related to energy and natural resources, agriculture, transportation and infrastructure, federal funding, and public lands – especially leasing and permitting projects on public lands.
Throughout her career, Johnson has worked with a wide range of clients, including publicly traded and Fortune 500 corporations such as Equitrans Midstream, Quanta Services, and Pilot Flying J. She has also assisted small privately-owned businesses in securing permits for projects on federal lands. In addition to corporate clients, she has represented Native American Tribes, municipalities, universities, and non-profit organizations like the B&O Railroad Museum.
In 2012, Jennifer Johnson founded the Bighorn Public Affairs Group, specializing in developing and managing legislative and government relations plans for its clients. Johnson has emphasized building strong relationships with members of Congress and their staff on both sides of the political aisle.
Johnson holds a degree in marketing and corporate management from Florida Atlantic University.
Having grown up in the Bighorn Mountains near the border of Montana and Wyoming, Jennifer Johnson thoroughly enjoys bringing senior congressional staffers to Wyoming each year on a fact-finding natural resources tour. She is also the proud parent of a sports-crazy teenaged son.
